What Is the Story of Spider-Man, Turn Off The Dark?
Drawing from over forty years of Marvel comic books for inspiration, Spider-Man the musical show on Broadway: Turn Off the Dark, spins a new take on the mythic tale of Peter Parker, a teenager whose unremarkable life in Queens is turned upside-down--literally--when he's bitten by a genetically-altered spider and wakes up the next morning clinging to the ceiling. Bullied by his classmates and tortured by an unrelenting crush on next-door-neighbor Mary Jane Watson, this science geek discovers he has suddenly been endowed with astonishing powers. He soon learns, however, that "with great power comes great responsibility." Maligned by the media, buffeted by financial woes, and stretched thin by the expectations of the world-at-large, Peter now must struggle to navigate the perilous and peculiar demands of being a web-slinging superhero. With the characters in Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark ranging from old familiar favorites to supervillains never-before imagined, Spider-Man's battles will hurtle the audience through a story both recognizable and unexpected, culminating in an eye-popping, ultimate test for this iconic figure.
What Is Spider-Man, Turn Off the Dark Like?
One of the most technically elaborate Broadway musicals of all time, Spider-Man brings the Manhattan skyline to life on stage and features incredible aerial stunts as Spider-Man flies over the audience to fight his foes. The musical features a rock score penned by famed U2 musicians Bono and the Edge. Similar to other projects from the show's original director, Julie Taymor, there are inventive costumes, puppets, masks, projections and more stunning visual techniques used throughout the show. Spider-Man: Turn Off The Dark is sometimes a sold out show.

Is Spider-Man, Turn Off The Dark Good for Kids?
Of course! Spider-Man is perfect for kids, this musical is a great early Broadway outing for young theatergoers. While superhero loving kids will go crazy for Spider-Man as he soars around the audience, younger children may be frightened by the Green Goblin and the other evildoers who aim to fight Spider-Man. Much of the fight choreography looks like stylized dancing, so it is not overly violent, though some of the video projections are a bit intense (and loud) for younger kids. They will not have a better time on Broadway this season than at Spider-Man. Spider-Man The Musical is a general audience show. As an advisory to adults who might bring young people, the show is suitable for ages 4 and up. All persons entering the theatre, regardless of age, must have a ticket.
2 hours and 45 minutes with one 15 minute intermission
